Dr. Sandeep Sharma is an experienced Interventional Nephrologist with nearly two decades in the field. He has completed more than 20,000 dialysis access-related procedures, treating patients across Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Dr. Sharma completed his Family Medicine Residency at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA, followed by an Internal Medicine Residency and Nephrology Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He trained under Dr. John Ross, a renowned vascular and dialysis-access surgeon, for interventional nephrology. He was the first Interventional Nephrologist to establish a practice in Western Pennsylvania and pioneered endovascular fistula creation in Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Dr. Sharma is dedicated to providing high-quality care efficiently, ensuring patients feel valued and supported. He believes that “patients’ vascular access is their lifeline, and I am the plumber that keeps it going.” He focuses on teamwork in patient care, aiming to make his role as stress-free as possible for patients.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Sharma is involved in raising awareness about kidney disease. He regularly speaks on access care in the region and has been a Board Member of the National Kidney Foundation for 15 years. He also supports the local chapter of the Wounded Warriors Project.
Dr. Sharma is an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports teams and is proud to be part of the Preferred Vascular Group team.
